Sakshi Spell Bee the most awaited English spelling contest in AP and TS is back in its 12th season.

Thousands of children from class I to X are preparing for this exciting contest.

The 12th Edition will have two finals. One for Telangana and other for Andhra Pradesh. The test will be common for both states till the third round and the toppers will be selected for the finals. The final which is relayed on Sakshi TV is an immensely popular program and watched by millions across TS and AP.

Registration Process

For Spell Bee, an amount of Rs.15 can be retained by schools towards administration expenses i.e. the school has to deposit Rs.235/-only per registration. This is applicable for a min 25 registrations and above.

For Individual Registration - Rs. 250/- per head.

One “Sakshi Spell Mate” book as reference material will be given against one registration.

The Sakshi Spell Mate book is only for reference and not a syllabus.

A contest divided broadly into 4 levels based on the student’s grade and exam will be conducted in four categories as below:

Category I - Class 1 & 2
Category II - Class 3 & 4
Category III - Class 5, 6 & 7
Category IV- Class 8, 9 & 10

1st Prize > Gold Medal + Rs. 8,000/-
2nd Prize > Silver Medal + Rs. 5,000/-
3rd Prize > Bronze medal + Rs. 3,000/-

  • Champion School Trophy.( Maximum number of winners from a school)
  • Medals/Trophies for winners and certificates for all participants.
Rules and Regulations
The contest will have four rounds

1st Round Preliminary

This will be a written test and will be conducted in schools by the school management on the guidelines given by SSB. Question paper will be sent by SSB.

  • School management will conduct the preliminary round in the school itself and the words can be pronounced by the School/English faculty of the school.
  • Answer sheet will be provided by Sakshi Spell Bee and No Xerox copies of the same will be allowed.
  • The question paper will be provided by SAKSHI SPELL BEE through Emails only to the Email address given by the school management in the registration form.
  • The school should correct the answer sheets with in a given specified time period and send the details of the qualified students to sakshispellbee1@gmail.com.
  • Top 20% of the total registered students will be eligible to qualify for the second round at the zonal level.
  • It will be the responsibility of the school management to send the list of the top 20% of the participant students to the Sakshi Spell Bee through email.
  • First round will be a forty word written exam which is to be attempted in forty minutes.

2nd Round Quarter Finals

This will be a written test and will be conducted in district headquarters. Announcement of words will be done by the teacher. Students will take the test at a venue arranged by “Sakshi Spell Bee”. Students need to listen to the words given by the teacher and write the test.

  • The second round at the district level will be conducted at the respective districts headquarters.
  • The centers may be added or changed in case of any unforeseen situation. The second round will be a written exam and will be conducted by the representatives of SAKSHI SPELL BEE.
  • The students must come dressed in school uniform for the second and subsequent rounds.
  • The student should carry the school ID card.

3rd Round Semifinals

This will be a written test and the format will be same as the second round. The centers will be at Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupathi and Hyderabad.


4th Round Finals

This will be an Oral test and will be conducted at Hyderabad. There will be two State Finals one for Telangana and the other for Andhra Pradesh.

The final round is conducted before an audience. This round is conducted orally.

The finalist from each group stands before the audience, one group at a time; One by One they are asked to spell out orally the words given to them.

When a participant is asked to spell a word, it is recommended that he/she pronounces the word before and after it is spelled.

If the participant has a doubt he/she may ask the caller to:
  • Pronounce the word again
  • Define the word
  • Use it in a sentence

This is done to make the word clear to the participant.
  • Judges may disqualify a participant who does not make an attempt to spell a word.
  • Any doubts relating to spelling of a word must be referred to the judge and clarified before the contestants are called on the stage.

NOTE:
  • The Judge’s decision is Final in all the contests and matters concerning the contest and cannot be contested for any reasons whatsoever.
  • Format is subject to change as per the discretion of the Bee Master.
  • The rules and regulations will may be changed or amended in case the need arises.
  • All participants will need to abide by the rules and regulations of the competition.
